Kilkenny’s women opened their season with a closely fought game against Mullingar in the first game of this blitz fixture at Barnhall RFC in Leixlip.

Kilkenny’s first victory of the season was tempered by the tragic loss of former player George Williams jr. The game commenced with a minute’s silence in memory of a well-liked and well respected individual.

Kilkenny progressed to the second round of the Provincial Towns Cup with this win over Athy away last Sunday. The game was played on a heavy and greasy surface with the result in doubt right to the final whistle.
